After hearing that trees in the area of the Waterpark and Go-Kart Site at Goodrington Sands in Paignton were all to be cut down, local Councillor Christine Carter intervened and has secured the agreement of the Council to replant new trees near by along the walkway of Young's Park.

A 'Notice of Works' has been issued to "remove the majority of the trees on site" by the Waterpark.

Christine Carter, the local Liberal Democrat Councillor for the Goodrington with Roselands Ward, said, "I was outraged when I heard that most of the trees are going to be cut down. I understand that the developer, who has taken a one-year lease for the Waterpark, did not want to take liability for the trees. One of Paignton's, and indeed Torbay's, attractions are its green spaces. It is good news for local residents, tourists and the environment that the Council has agreed to my request to plant the new trees to replace the ones that will be lost.
