COUNCILLOR SEEKS UPDATE ON BALLOON AT COUNCIL MEETING

11.09.18am BST (GMT +0100) Thu 23rd Oct 2008

An update on how successful the controversial balloon on Torre Abbey Meadows has been is being sought at the Full Council meeting on Thursday 30th October.

Liberal Democrat Group Leader Councillor Steve Darling is asking the following written question:

Question to the Cabinet Member with responsibility for Tourism - Cllr Beryl Mcphail:

"Using the latest figures available to Council Officers, could the Cabinet Member advise me as to how many have people have used the balloon and the income received on a monthly basis?"

Councillor Steve Darling said, "The decision by the Conservative Elected Mayor Nick Bye to place the balloon on Torre Abbey Meadow was controversial, to say the least. After all the controversy and now that the main tourist season is over, it will be interesting to see whether the balloon was worth all the upset."
