CARY ARMS - CLOSED FOR THIRD SUMMER IN A ROW?

3.09.43pm BST (GMT +0100) Mon 23rd Jun 2008

Councillor Steve Darling will be expressing concerns at Thursday's Full Council Meeting over the possibility that the Cary Arms may be closed for the third August in a row.

The Leader of the Liberal Democrat Group has tabled the following question for the Mayor:

"Given your special relationship, what influence are you bringing to bear on Peter de Savary to ensure that this August is not the third August in a row that the Cary Arms is closed to residents and tourists alike?"

Councillor Steve Darling said: "Given that the Mayor claims to be regenerating Torbay it must be concerning for him as well as local residents that the Cary Arms may well be closed for the third August in a row. Local people will be very disappointed if there is no concrete news about when the Cary Arms will re-open. I am sure that the Mayor will have spoken to Peter de Savaray about his plans, and I am sure that he will want to report back to Councillors on this matter."
