COUNCILLOR CALLS FOR SCRUTINY OF ROCK WALK PROBLEMS1.03.06pm GMT Wed 19th Mar 2008 Liberal Democrat Councillor Jenny Faulkner is calling for Rock Walk to be put on the agenda of the Council's 'Overview and Scrutiny Board' so that lessons can be learnt. Councillor Jenny Faulkner's letter to the Council's Scrutiny Department says: Please could you put the issue of Rock Walk on the agenda of the next available Overview and Scrutiny Board meeting. I feel that there are a number of issues that the Council needs to address. These include: Why there was no contingency plan if further problems were encountered; Demonstrate that the harbour side and Fleet Walk are open for business; Look at the communication strategy for events such as Rock Walk; Strategic Planning for the future. I would be grateful if you could put this on the agenda as soon as is practically possible. Councillor Faulkner has also called for schoolchildren or local artists to be allowed to draw murals on the dull blue boards that cordon off the area affected by the work on Rock Walk, to brighten the area up for tourists and locals. Councillor Jenny Faulkner said: "Lessons need to be learnt from what has happened at Rock Walk so that similar problems do not occur in the future. That is why I have called for Rock Walk to be discussed at a future meeting of the Council's Overview and Scrutiny Board. "I also very much hope that the Council will also take up my suggestion of allowing the rather dull blue boards which cordon off the area affected to be used for murals and paintings. They are not very pleasant on the eye for visitors or locals, so it would be nice to brighten them up."
