Lib Dems To Raise Questions At Full Council

4.12.21pm BST (GMT +0100) Fri 22nd Jun 2007

The Liberal Democrat Group on Torbay Council have tabled 5 questions to the Mayor and his Conservative Cabinet for the Full Council Meeting on the 28th June.

The topics include:

• Why the Mayor did not disclose that the Council had received £340,000 extra money from the government during the budget setting debate in March;

• How much it has cost to supply the Conservative members room with new furniture and computers

• The culling of the peacocks at Paignton zoo;

• Cuts to the local fire service

Commenting on the questions, the Leader of the Liberal Democrat Group on Torbay Council Cllr Steve Darling said:

"It is an important role for local Councillors to be able to hold the Conservative administration to account for things that are going on in Torbay and to raise important local and national issues. The Liberal Democrats see it as their role to stand up for local people in Torbay."
