COUNCILLOR TO OPPOSE ALL 3 PROPOSALS FOR ROSELANDS DRIVE JUNCTION

5.00.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Tue 12th Sep 2006

Councillor Christine Carter, who represents Goodrington with Roselands Ward on Torbay Council, will urge the Development Control Committee on Thursday night (14th September) to reject all 3 proposals that have been submitted for the junction of Brixham Road and Roselands Drive.

Plans have been submitted by two developers, which would require a major road junction. All the options would involve taking land from the Roselands side of the Brixham Road. The increase in the volume of traffic on the junction is also a consideration, as this will cause yet another junction and delay on the already very busy Brixham Road.

Cllr Christine Carter said:

"All 3 proposals will lead to increased traffic onto an already incredibly busy road. I will be speaking at the Development Control Committee meeting, and I will argue that none of the 3 proposals need to be accepted. Indeed, only recently a previous planning application for access on to the Brixham Road in this vicinity was refused on grounds of access. The Committee does not need to accept any of the proposals, and I will be speaking against all of the options."
