COUNCILLOR CALLS FOR SAFETY MEASURES AT CECIL ROAD JUNCTION

5.00.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Wed 23rd Aug 2006

Councillor Mike James, who represents Roundham with Hyde Ward on Torbay Council, has called for safety measures to be introduced at the Cecil Road junction in Paignton.

Councillor James said:

"The recent accident at the Cecil Road Junction has further highlighted the need for safety measures to be installed. Several residents have expressed deep concern, as there have been several minor incidents over a period of time.

"I have been calling for a crossing at that Junction for a long time now, and have always been told by Council Officers that there have not been enough accidents. The recent accident proves how dangerous the junction is, so I shall be redoubling my efforts to get a crossing there before there are any more accidents."
