TOURISTS GREETED BY WEEDS AND DEAD FLOWERS5.00.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Fri 28th Jul 2006 Councillor Jenny Faulkner (Tormohun) has hit out at the state of the flowerbeds - particularly at Lymington Road Coach Station and Brunswick Square. Commenting on the situation Cllr Faulkner said: "At Lymington Road Coach Station, which is one of the tourist gateway's into the Bay, the flower beds are just full of weeds. If the Conservative Mayor does not want to put flowers there, it would look a lot better if the flowerbeds were either grassed over or covered up. Instead there is just a mess, which is not a good advertisement for Torbay for tourists arriving by Coach. "At Brunswick square, flowers have been put in, which have been donated. However they have not been watered so the planters have died. What is the point of having flowers if they are not going to be watered. The Conservative Mayor should have looked at the contract for watering before accepting the new flowers. "The Conservative Mayor has placed a lot of emphasis on Tourism in his new vision for Torbay. However, the fact that there are weeds and dead flowers in crucial tourist areas seems to be going against his vision. Actions speak louder than words - it appears that the Mayor needs to get a grip." Ends
