Torbay's Champion Nick Pannell meeting local resident Stan Westmoreland

TAKING pride in his neighbourhood is retired police officer Stan Westmoreland. Every day Stan walks the foothpaths around his home picking up litter.

Stan, who used to co-ordinate Neighbourhood Watch across Torbay, is supporting Nick's campaign for a cleaner, safer Bay and is prepared to play his part in making it a reality.

Nick said: "We will improve our environment if residents and council work together. Stan takes pride in his town, we should all think how we can play ours."

Nick will work with other Liberal Democrat authorities across the country, borrowing ideas, copying good practice to improve the way the council is run.

At the invitation of county councillor David Cox Nick has already been over to see the £500,000 new children's playground on The Den in Teignmouth.

David said: "We will work closely with Nick if he is elected Mayor to strengthen tourism across South Devon. We have much to learn from each other."
