I'll take action to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour pledges Nick7.37.47pm BST (GMT +0100) Fri 30th Sep 2005
Local residents are backing Nick Pannell's campaign for a safer Torquay. As Mayor Nick will make getting policing a top priority - he knows how important it is to make our streets safer. Nick said "Many of our local police officers are sucked in to hot spots such as the harbour at night. I want to see a temporary custody centre put in place on the harbour in the evenings so that police officers are able to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour swiftly, and can spend more time on the street not in the police station. This will mean that all of Torquay will get the policing it needs, not just the harbour area." Many local people are saying that they want to see Nick Pannell elected as Torbay's first Mayor. They know Nick will put them first - not party politics.
